There are limited options, but they're more fleshed out (eg. So, for repeat value (or if you like a particular non-story NPC more than the rest), you can have them be your partner if you really want to. Alternatively, you can raise your affinity with any NPC in the game, and they'll be tagged as your special someone.

In Dragon's Dogma, you can enter a relationship with some of the main characters. Conversely, you don't need to have played POE1 to enjoy POE2 - and a lot of the story beats are similar.Īs for the others (which are action RPGs) - if you like Mass Effect and Witcher, then Elex 1 & 2 are their step-children, whereas Dragon's Dogma is more like Witcher & Monster Hunter - and both have their own spin on Romance. The sequel (Deadfire) lets you choose between a Real-Time Combat style like old-school Baldur's games - or a Turn-Based mode if you want it to feel more like Divinity. Then you have the first Divinity Original Sin, as well as many Baldur's Gates and related or inspired games (like Icewind Dale, etc). You don't need to play one to have enjoyed the other, and I found Deadfire (2) to have the most sense of wonder and exploration (and I believe romance options). They play similarly to old-school Baldur's Gate, and Deadfire is very reminiscent of Original Sin 2's plot-points (shipwrecked, escaping an island, deadfire vs death-fog, and so forth). If you like games such as Witcher and Monster Hunter, and aren't off-put by being slightly older, then you're in for a treat. Oh, and you can also fully customize yourself and your dedicated companions (Pawns).

Action-combat-fantasy where you can technically romance pretty much any NPC in the entire game, even though only some of the main cast has voice-acted pay-offs.
